It is not recommended to take both products together. In terms of maintenance, ten grams of collagen per day (2 scoops per day) is sufficient to support the firmness and elasticity of the most important tissues. Do you have an acute injury? Then follow the FIT recommendations on our website or the advice of your therapist.
Fish collagen is collagen extracted from the bones (bones) and skin (scales) of the fish. Bovine collagen is collagen extracted from the bones of cattle. When the cattle are processed for the meat industry, these bones are used to make bovine collagen.
There are different types of collagen, collagen itself has 28 types in total. The most common are type 1, type 2 and type 3. About 90% of all collagen in our body consists of type 1. The most important collagen types are:
- Collagen type 1 is mainly found in the skin, hair, nails, bones, cartilage, connective tissue, ligaments, tendons and blood vessels
- Collagen type 2: mainly found in the joints, intervertebral discs, ribs, nose, larynx and trachea
- Collagen type 3: is mainly found in the house, our blood vessels and also tissues for wound repair
Bovine collagen contains type 1 and type 3, fish collagen mainly contains type 1 and type 2.
Collagen can be extracted from various natural sources such as fish and animals.
- Fish collagen: marine collagen or fish collagen is the purest form of collagen, but therefore also the most expensive. This is extracted from the skin (scales) and bones (bones) of the fish.
- Bovine collagen: bovine collagen or bovine collagen is closest to the structure of humans and is extracted from the skin or bones of cattle.
- Pork collagen: in porcine collagen, the collagen is extracted from the skin and bones of pigs.
Marine collagen or fish collagen is extracted from the bones (bones) and skin (scales) of the fish. Fish collagen from wild-caught fish is the purest form of collagen and can therefore be processed into supplements, powders and liquids. Our source of fish collagen is Naticol, known for its bioactive and bioavailable marine collagen peptides of natural origin. These peptides are primarily derived from the collagen type most abundant in the human body: type 1 collagen.
Naticol is extracted from the skin of fish and then made bioavailable through a unique process specially developed by Weishardt. This process consists of two steps: extraction of the collagen, followed by targeted enzymatic hydrolysis. That is why our product has a unique collagen peptide profile extracted from the bones and skin of the fish. The main benefits are aimed at improving the beauty and elasticity of the skin and maintaining an active lifestyle.
Bovine collagen or bovine collagen is extracted from the bones of cattle. Our source of bovine collagen is SOLUGEL®, these collagen peptide supplements are composed of high-quality collagen peptides obtained from natural animal sources (bovine collagen peptides). By enzymatically breaking down proteins into smaller peptides, bioactive SOLUGEL® is obtained, which can be easily absorbed by the human body. As an easily digestible protein without sugar, fat, cholesterol and carbohydrates, SOLUGEL® offers a range of potential health benefits, such as healthy joints, healthy aging and beautiful skin.
With the right dosage, spread over time, collagen peptides can contribute to the healthy functioning of your body. In addition, the benefits of SOLUGEL® are also clinically proven: with its long-lasting satiating effect, SOLUGEL® is an ideal protein source to significantly improve the elasticity, firmness and hydration of various tissues (tendons, ligaments, cartilage and also the skin) after just 56 days of intake.
The SiRo Collagen FIT contains 15 grams of collagen peptides (bovine), 120 mg Vitamin C, Calcium, Vit D and Manganese. We have added Vitamin C to our collagen supplement because, among other things, it helps to produce collagen naturally and supports our immunity. Calcium contributes to the strength of our bone structure. The sunshine vitamin D is a precursor of Calcium and in turn also contributes to stronger bones. Manganese ensures the maintenance of our connective tissue.
The SiRo Collagen SKIN contains 10 grams of collagen peptides (marine), 80 mg Vitamin C, Selenium, Zinc and Copper. The collagen provides support for firmer and more elastic skin. Vitamin C has been added for optimal absorption of our collagen peptide and will also support our immunity. Zinc and Selenium contribute to stronger nails and shiny hair. Copper, in turn, contributes to better pigmentation of our hair and skin.
Ideally, you use a wooden or plastic spoon to stir. But the effect of the collagen will be minimally reduced if you stir the collagen with a metal spoon.
Collagen is a body’s own protein and from the age of 30 we produce less and less collagen in our body. A collagen supplement can therefore be a nice addition if you want to stimulate the right building blocks to produce new collagen. In this way, it will make the tissues in our body where a lot of collagens is needed (tendons, ligaments, cartilage, skin, etc.) firmer and more elastic and in this way you can try to slow down the aging process.
The recommended dose is always stated on the packaging in the instructions for use.
The spoon is always in the pot anyway. Due to the transport process, it may no longer be visible from above on the powder. By briefly stirring the powder with a longer object (e.g. knife), the spoon will quickly emerge.
The answer here is a resounding YES. Since collagen is a body’s own protein, it certainly cannot hurt to take it during pregnancy. However, it is our recommendation to continue taking it after pregnancy, precisely because it benefits the firmness and elasticity of the skin.
Scientifically speaking, an effect only occurs after 56 days, so approximately 2 months. The most ideal is a 3-month treatment and then allowing your body to return to homeostasis for a week. Clinically we see and hear that results are being achieved faster. In people who have complaints of joint pain, we see a reduction in pain after one week when taking collagen. We also see that in some people their skin looks shinier after just one month. Of course, we always recommend combining this with a healthy lifestyle and a healthy diet.
Collagen is an important glue-forming protein in the body, consisting of the following three essential amino acids: proline, lysine and hydroxyproline. We find it in the skin and bones of animals. We used to make stock from the bones, which gave us quite a lot of collagen. Nowadays we no longer make stock from bones and fish heads and we no longer eat animal skins.
With the current diet we only get 5% of the collagen we need. Our natural collagen production decreases as we age and it is therefore important to stimulate collagen production, for example by taking a supplement. Making your own fish or bone broth more often is a good start!
Powder is the easiest way to get enough collagen. We always assume a minimum of 10 grams of collagen peptides because science shows that there is a significant difference between 5 grams or 10 grams of collagen intake per day. You can also put 10 grams in a liquid, but these are generally much more expensive to purchase because you have to work per bottle. In pill form it is exceedingly difficult to take 10 grams of collagen because you would have to take 10x 1g tablets every day. Hence the first choice for powder.
Whey protein and collagen both consist of different amino acids, so that is where the biggest difference lies. Collagen consists of the essential amino acids Proline, Glycine and hydroxyproline. Whey protein consists of the essential amino acids Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine. The last three are found in the muscles and that is why whey protein shakes are often used after exercise to strengthen or recover the muscles. The essential amino acids found in collagen are found in the skin, tendons, cartilage, ligaments and joints.
Yes, that is certainly possible. You can combine collagen with Omega 3’s, for example, or with Vit D. We have tried with SiRo to always add enough Vitamin C to meet your daily recommended intake. The SKIN and FIT also contain extra minerals that are good for the skin and for the tendons, joints and ligaments respectively.
You can recycle your SiRo pot in a blue PMD bag. The people who did our packaging, the Dutch company Corex, assured us of this.
Collagen is a body’s own protein, so there are normally no side effects when you supplement with collagen. It is best to always read the precautions on the packaging to be sure. If you do not exceed the recommended servings of collagen, you will not gain weight from collagen.
Collagen is a body’s own protein, so even if you take too much collagen, it will always find its way into different tissues in our body. But of course we recommend not to exceed the recommended portions of collagen.
